Sarod question

Hi,
Am learning sarod picking and I Got the wrist movement down but having a problem with moving the thumb at the same time any tips? I've got scalpel down. So when I sarod pick I move my thumb the same movement as scalpel but also my wrist?

You do. It takes a long time to get it down - perhaps a few months.
