I have had a biit of a thing for Micheal Romeos guitar work for a while now, Now that I can finally move past the ozzy stuff/ jake lee stuff, this is the stuff I have been working on:




And I am really enchanted by the additional intro guitar work and sextuplet harmonic minor fills that Romeo added in this digitalalized recording of it

Also Been working on this guy...tis a bit sentimental for me because back when I first heard it I was a super noob just starting out taking one hour private classical guitar lessons four times a week, I tried learning it and as soon as the guitar parts became distorted I was screwed.

I watched some old movies this weekend that went and found the soundtrack for Deep Red enchanting -- got a few more Dario Argento movies to go over and Goblin seems to have made that soundtrack as well -- and here's the full thing:

Not normally my kind of thing, *but*, my best friend Joff was asked at short notice to stand in on banjo for the Hayseed Dixie for a biker's rally in Austria. It's bluegrass meets rock, and pretty awesome. Joff is the guy in the red shirt (and the one playing banjo, obviously)

Lots of talk on the PB forums about the great Shawn Lane as well there should be. Shawn is a great inspiration to a lot of us.

I would like to turn you onto one of Shawn's primary influences, the 20th century composer Conlon Nancarrow. Zappa was also a big fan of Nancarrow. Anyway, Nancarrow wrote all this piano music that was so complex that no human could play it. This was also before the time of computers and such. So, he acquired a player piano. These things work by a mechanism inside that reads punches in these special perforated rolls of paper. Therefore, Nancarrow could obtain these giant rolls of paper and punch holes in the paper to get the player piano to play his piece. He wrote these throughout his life and collectively they are now known as "Studies for Player Piano #1-#51."

Nancarrow was a communist who was born in Arkansas but moved to Mexico and lived in virtual obscurity...punching holes in paper...until guys like Zappa started bringing him to the attention of the masses in the 1980's.

Having read several threads on vibrato here, it reminded me of Pebber's cover of Diamond Dust.

Just heard of Brett Garsed today, I don't have the ears like many other members on the forum....but it sounds like major legato going on.

Brett Garsed played with these guys. He's in this video. When I was a kid this was my first exposure to him so every time I hear his name this comes to mind. Actually not a bad song and very well produced but VERY dated looking and funny.

I am like 99% convinced that romeo at some point either intentionaly or (maybe by happy coincidence/unintertional personal discovery) stumbled onto some very unique genus of sarod picking...there are little quick things he does in his hyper speed picking phrases...and these things i noticed ALWAYS seem to pop up for a passing moment in every piece of footage that has him playing...Unless one has taken the time to actually slow vids with him turbo picking I dont think they are even remotly obvious...nevertheless they are there...that is why I am convinced he is a Sarod picker.

Mixing it up a little here:

He's only been playing for almost 55 yrs.

Just wanted to know what you think, its one of my teachers(even though im not into that fusion Jazz kind of thing that much

Anyway I know Marshall Harrison has been talked on here before. I found him doing Giant Steps(what I am slowly working on), it sounds pretty fucking sweet
