Hi guys. My schedule suddenly got a lot tighter over the last few weeks, and I'm trying to make my time as effective as possibly. I usually start off with trills and picking exercises on one string, but only after warming up by jamming around for about 15/20 mins.

Does anyone here have a tips or methods for warming up quickly?

i think its better you warm up with some Isometrics, after that your fingers, arms and thr wrist is totally warming up,
Me it's helping a lot.

It takes me a long time to warm up - usually at least an hour or so....!

Planet Waves makes something called the Varigrip. It is great for warming up and you can carry in your pocket to practice ladders and trills during the day when you have free time. Mine cost $12.00.

If you are not thinking about the guitar every 30 seconds then you are not concentrating.

Hey mate, thanks for the tip! I've been looking for something like this so I can "practice" at work too. I have actually asked some instrument technicians if they would be able to make something like a four fret section of a guitar neck with strings so I could practice trills, chord shapes, etc. Not ideal but I could get away with it at the office during working hours... I'll give this varigrip a try though.

It takes me about an hour before my fingers are limber. I ALWAYS start with some isometric stuff, focusing on stretching me fret hand thumb because Ive had problems there that i dont want to come back. then i switch to some slow 4 fret chromatic exercises across one string. Then I move it across all strings. Then I go to some 5 fret chromatic stuff to start stretching the index and pinky and move it from across one string to all strings. Then I'll play a few things I know real well to see how limber I am. Then I get into the real practicing in Pebber's modules.
