I'll stick to it. I'm still shooting for 6hrs a day during the week and 6+ on weekends.

OK. I'll just do what I can and work on things I can't.

Well the two handed trill seems impossible on the acoustic. I can't get the sound like the video volume wise. As for the rest of the daily practice I guess what I'm asking is if anyone gets all the exercises from module 1 to 7 done daily or is it really broken up and if it's broken up how do you focus on the exercises. I feel a bit guilty when I can't get through one module let alone 7 in a day of practice.

I recently received my first video and it starts with module 2 overview along with some beginner theory videos. I love the theory videos as they are full of great content - but the module 2 overview is really kicking my ass right now. It's taking me 3 hours just to get to the two hand trills which is very difficult to do on an acoustic for me right now. I finally struggled through and got to Chromatic exercises, then saw all the permutations that must be done to complete this portion of the module and I must admit I am overwhelmed right now.

If this is a daily plan, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get through all seven modules if I'm taking 3 hours on less than half of one. How do you guys tackle daily practice? Any advice is appreciated.

Just started out on the theory videos and the file B is not working. All the other files work so I don't think it's my phone. Could anyone go over what to work on for file B or help me get a workable copy? Byronbuchanan58@gmail.com - username.

And just to make sure there's no difference when playing acoustic? I've been following your instructions and so far so good. Guitar even has a different tone playing this way.

So does all the strength/support come from the forearm and wrist? Thanks for the help

I find myself bracing my picking hand with my pinky. Is this incorrect form? I don't see it done in the practice videos so I'm thinking it's bad.

  • Best way to practice away from guitar? DateFri Dec 20, 2013 8:59 am

doesn't sound silly at all. I actually have a desk job so I can't just sing out - I guess I could but my co-workers would probably think I'm nuts. What I do have is this app on my android called perfect ear 2. It's free and it basically has a keyboard with the grand staff above it and you can do interval training. The app plays different intervals ascending and descinding and you have to pick the correct interval and it grades the whole process. Something else I have to be careful with though because I have to hear the intervals and cell phone use is frowned upon - but it's a great app and I've seen others like it.

I have a day job and I'm constantly trying to get better at guitar. I read through these forums and see comments saying it takes 2 years of mastery on certain skills before you should attempt to practice scales "follow the modules" - things like this. I don't want to rush the process but wonder if there is a way to maximize time maybe some have found useful. I squeeze my stressball to work on left hand strength and I study the theory lessons pb has - but is there any other exercises or work that can be done away from guitar that helps you get better? Thanks in advance.
