I just found out today... I last saw him beginning of February. I kept stopping by the studio in Claremont and Pebbers truck was still parked in front like usual. I now know why I couldn't get a hold of him.
Aaahhh yes.....happy times.... I remember....it was warm day... Goodt memory... Not wild dog...it was hees pet dog....chuckles... Chernobyl....yes they still there...90 degrees warmer there.....like Hawaii I am told..
Listen to Shakti....Sarod players. They go all over the place with slides...bends...ect. Jeff Beck is who I would recommend to listen to......esp. Guitar Shop. Where Were You is one of my all time favs.
BLOOD, SWEAT, TEARS, PHYSICAL/EMOTIONAL DAMAGE, FUCKING RETARDS STEALING YOUR SHIT, HOMELESS, STARVING.......You have to go through all that before you can stand up and say I get it.....and do something about it and practice HARDER.
Its not easy at all. My family NEVER fucking understood why I spent 10 hours a day practicing. Or just sitting listening to the same 5 min of Shakti just to hear the intensity of the fluid techniques. Never got it..at all. I had to fight to practice and then recover from disappointment because I had to stop playing for a day or two to do some BS.
Do the best you can and fight for what you want. You want to play like Yngwie....the practice your ass off. Your in VERY GOOD HANDS here!
I think it is the result of feeling awkward because you are new to the technique. After time you will develop that sweet spot for gripping to the point of being able to adjust the pick on the fly. Try to pick slower and lighter...then build up intensity if you like. But I think it will disappear after a while. Plus read the pick gripping ideas in the posts above.
I had that problem before....actually sweat and blood got in the way and use to make my pick slippery. So I learned how to adjust the pick while playing...plus I found picking lighter to regain control helped to while playing.
Oh man...totally comfortable with 2 note patterns. Case in point.... Look up the "outside/inside" video. In the video I started to experiment with drop note pentatonics. Even note patterns are almost an attribute of the Sarod Technique. Odd note patterns are a bit more difficult....believe it or not.
I think it is still on youtube. If not I can post it again...if I can remember my password..lol.
