    There is something that still confuses me when people say what key a song or guitar lick is in. For example, they will say this lick is in the key of A when it's actually A minor which to me I would think they should say C major because that is what would be on the sheet music. Is this just something that people are often wrong about or am I missing something? I hope I'm not asking a really dumb question here. If so just ignore. Thanks.

    Thank you very much for your response. I changed the strings and ended up relaxing the truss rod an 8th of a turn or so and all is well now. I've watched countless videos on changing strings and truss rod adjustment so I felt comfortable doing it. Thank you very much again for the response.

    When I play chords that have an open G the string starts ringing out like crazy after just a couple of seconds and it sounds bad. I've only recently noticed this. I've been playing for about 8 months now and I'm an old guy so this is very new to me and I would really appreciate any advice. I'm clueless if it's me or my guitar. Thank you.

    O.K so I'm a relative noob I guess on the guitar, less than six months and I'm going to ask a dumb question. So here goes;

    How come the open A string sounds different than the A note on the sixth string at the 5th fret? If it's not supposed to sound the same then you can reply just that. I'm watching Pebbers music theory classes and I'm just not there yet maybe.

    Anyway, sorry for the stupid question, I'm concerned that something is wrong with my hearing since I'm old. Thanks for reading.

    No matter how hard I try I mute the first string with my first finger of my left hand. Is this common? Is this a sign to not move forward with guitar? I'm an old guy btw, 39 years old and just purchased a cheap Chinese guitar 4 weeks ago. Thanks for reading.
