Hey guys,

Here's a video of 3 different left hand techniques that allow you to play more chords.

Hope you enjoy, he also has some vids of him playing various solo guitar arrangements.

Practice not just until you get it right, practice until you can't get it wrong.

Hmmmm

I think this would be "jumping the gun."

What good are these? You will learn these techniques as you learn the various chords.

Watch Pebber's chord videos. Go watch the chord exploration videos and actually DO EXACTLY what Pebber describes to do! Write them down!!!! I do those with my students all the time. A truly valuable weapon.

I think that they are to prepare you, so when you want to learn a new chord, you don't have to worry about not having the technique down, and you can just focus on memorizing the chord.

No way dude. That's not how it works brother! That's like saying, "I'm going buy a Les Paul and a Marshall stack for when I become a rock star."

Learn gradually. In steps. The things he shows in this video, you will eventually learn as you learn these various chord shapes.

Work on the PB CHord Exploration videos...EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE VIDEOS and follow them

Ok, I see what you're saying. But wouldn't it still be beneficial to practice the techniques seperately, and then also apply them when you play the chords?

I try to find ways to practice technique within the context of real application where possible, these are excellent tools in your your arsenal my opinion is that you will need these techniques in special situations and that knowing more chords is preferable to knowing the technique by itself. Notice the application, a chord solo, if you really want to have command of the instrument take the melodies and formulate the chords to ensure that the melody line is prominent, many guitarists simply bang out block chords from the bottom up, a top down approach favoring the melody is more challenging and to me very rewarding. The other aspect is that chord diagrams are an important form of written music but having the theory and fretboard knowledge to construct the chord forms on the fly to me represents the ultimate freedom on the instrument. I think that as you explore this you will find these techniques useful but to me time would be better spent picking your favorite song and working out the melody/chord style in every key and various positions. By the time you do that you will have techniques of your own that work for your hands and build.

Here are some vids for you, thanks for a good post, I've been wanting to work on a good song I like this one.

I watched the video, but, it's like giving you the keys to the ferrari when you don't have a driver's license yet.

That's why I say, watch all of Pebber's chord videos on youtube and follow exactly what he says. Pebber takes you FROM THE GROUND UP! Through the roof and into outer space if that's what you wanna do with it through HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS of practice. Not 2, or 4, or 6 but days, months, years, lifetimes, of sitting with the instrument.

GROUND....UP! Not like this video. Nothing like this video!!!!! Don't watch this shit it will only confuse you. Fuck, I'm confused too!!!!!!

I hate these videos where the guy shows you some random stuff. IT WILL NOT HELP YOU.

GROUND...UP! Lifetime with the instrument. That's it.

You have to fall in love with the guitar. It's the only way.

the vids are meant for inspiration - the assumption is that we are all students of Pebbers and using his methods to attain something other than pure technique

If you go back Rob, this kid asked if we thought this video was a good idea.

I say no. In fact, I think it may be bad for him if he is a really young beginner.

JUST MY OPINION and he asked so...

If I was a child prodigy, I wouldn't be here...

Is something wrong with reading?

Zitat von Adam

OK, so WHAT ON EARTH would make you think that what you type, and worse, post, is going to help?

Umm.. I don't think that.. but okay...

Zitat von Adam

You are making a HUGE mistake, but I know you think you are just so darned funny and cute, because you can hide in your parents' house and post whatever your heart's desire....

LOL... I don't think I'm funny and cute,,, like I said before I have the same goals as everyone else here, To get better on the guitar...

Zitat von Adam
I am done with you, because I can aleady tell where this is headed. Enjoy your funny little posts and your little asides,,,,,they will remain YOUR legacy long after you're gone.

That's a relief, because I'm tired of reading your attempts at trying to make me get discouraged...

Like I said before, I'm here to learn and maybe give my input(not that I'm right, just what I think), on various topics.

Adam, all I see you doing on here is bringing people down. You need to stop. You're not helping anything.

Others have posted that the ideas in the videos are unnecessary. Can we leave it at that? Instead of flaming people?

Because yes, as I see it, you ARE discouraging him. Man up and stop messing with the kid. You're better than that.
