Mike, i just joined as well, and am about your age.

I have been playing about 5 years, and have diligently practiced, but have not practiced smart.

I have jumped around, and tried to learn everything!! I am going to hitch my wagon to Pebber and try to maintain a sensible and constant path to this.

I have learned a lot of what not to do, let me know if i cam help you in my limited way.

I use a book called guitar aerobics, it has a daily ( for me =Weekly) practice schedule. I like it very much. I also use a program called You Tube downloader ( YTD) to make videos on my computer from you tube.

The main thing I have learned, and would do right the first time if I had another chance, is hand mechaninc's. The bad habits are pretty hard to shake later on!! Thumb position, wild fingers flying up, etc.

    We can do this!!!

thanks very much. I will check it out. I use an I phone, and work with computers constantly, but I have never made a video.

I will try to get something up within a couple of weeks.

    thanks again

I just joined, I appreciate the opportunity to participate.

I am 63, have been trying to learn how to play for around 5 years, and i still suck at guitar. I am good at lots of drills, but not too good at making music. I have a good ear, a good sense of rhythm and harmony , grew up singing in an evangelical pastors family, and love music. For some reason, I can't seem to get the hang of the guitar.

I can play a few songs pretty well on acoustic, but sound terrible on an electric. I have decent equipment.

i am here to dedicate myself to whatever it takes to get good at this danged guitar!!!

I am looking forward to some serious practice, and a lot of good help from the folks here.

    thanks,
    stratwinder
