Beginning spiders/ladders question

Hi,

Simple beginner question. Never did spiders and ladders before and boy do I need them :).

Question though. What is the best way to practice them. Right now I do all of them, but that limits the repetitions to 2-3 times up and down. I wonder if it would be more effective (at least in the beginning) to focus on maybe 5 or 6 exercises and increasing the number of repetitions (for example only do ladders with fingers 1 and 2). Doing this for one week and moving to the next group the week after.

Any experience to share what is the most effective way to practice this type of exercise.

BTW I'm extremely happy to have found this great resource.

Obviously, there are numerous ways you could practice them. In regards to the spiders, when practicing them, I usually spend the most time on the ones I'm struggling with, up to at least 5min on one single spider, until I feel I'm getting more comfortable with it.

Can't comment on the ladders as I haven't been practicing them..

Practice not just until you get it right, practice until you can't get it wrong.

I agree with jimiclaptoncarl. If there are some you are good at, then don't focus on those. Work on the ones that you can't do.

Doing ladders between 2-4 fingers (30 min) and 3-4 fingers (30 min) every day really got me good results after 6 months.

Ok thanks, makes sense. Also good to hear how much time was spent to get good results.

Thats what Russ Tuttle said to Pebber,
however im gonna steal his phrase and modify it:
whenever some dude asks: "omfg talented omfg how do i become a guitar god ?"
Im gonna answer:
"Practice 2 hours on each string and 12 on all strings"
