Hello all. I want to apologize up front if this is too lengthy for a first post. My name is Brian and I am very excited to have found Pebber Brown's teachings. I came across his YouTube channel about a week ago and I have been watching as many videos as I am able each day, to familiarize myself him. He is the exact type of teacher I need and have been looking for. I am very grateful for the work he has and continues to do. I only wish I would have discovered him earlier, but such is life. I was going to start saving some money for a new practice amp, but instead I want to save the money to donate back to Pebber for all the resources he provides.
I'm 45 years old and about exactly one year ago I decided to pick up the guitar and try to learn as much as I could with the resources I had available. There are a few reasons why I decided to play, but thats another post. At the time, I set a goal for myself to practice just a few basics for at least 30 days for a minimum of 30 minutes a day. I quickly came to realize that I enjoyed playing more than I thought I would. I soon began forcing myself to wake up an hour earlier than normal before work so I could practice. I never really practiced much other than a few basic skills. As time went by, I eventually started adding a few different skills to my practice routine, but never really tried to learn cover tunes. I did however try to write some simple songs of my own to tinker with. Fast forward a year later, and I am determined more than I ever thought I would be to learn more. Once I made the decision to get more serious about playing, I knew I would need access to a good teacher. Due to my financial position, it just isn't possible for me to pay for weekly lessons, and as a father of 3 children, my time is limited. I have been fumbling through Youtube trying to pick up a few things here and there, but knew that this method was not going to get me very far. Finding Pebber's website and channel has helped me rethink and reassess everything about my playing and my goals. For the past several months, I have been waking up two hours earlier than normal so that I can have time to practice. I also try to practice in the evening, but it's a bit more difficult with family obligations. Since last week, after finding Pebber, my practice sessions have only been focusing on alternate picking.

I don't spend much time on forums or social media, but wanted to join this one in hopes that I might be able to receive some further guidance on my playing. I know it might be more helpful to know the reasons why I decided to play and what my specific long term goals are, so if anyone is interested in this information to perhaps help guide me in the right direction, I would be happy to share. In the meantime, I am going to focus on Pebber's Practice Module 1.

Take care all.
