Learning when you were progressing? What songs do you consider obligatory to the aspiring rock guitarist? What are the best

The most important player in my opinion for melody is Eric Johnson. Just watching him screw around to warm up is a lesson all in itself!

Learning Yngwie licks for the idea of composing/speaking.

Learning Lane ideas for the intuition of exploiting patterns.

Learning Mac phrases to just kick ass!

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST

Learning every f*&^ing thing Pebber has taught so one can rule the EARTH!

My humble opinion.......

I concur with Lord Frakh. Also, I'd recommend going back. Learn some Beatles, Hendrix, Cream, Santana, The Doors, Rolling Stones, etc. Go back further. Learn some Robert Johnson. Wealth of knowledge.
