Description When I was 21 my brother and I were driving to a gig and we were hit head on in our VW van. My ulnar nerve on my left hand was severed and the surgeon said I would never be able to play guitar again unless I switched to my right hand. Guitar was my life so I could not accept that and have been playing ever since. Although I have coordination limitations and my technique is unique ...to describe it kindly.. I manage. I've lived in Ireland and England, San Diego and Chicago. I was diagnosed with cancer and had serious surgery to save my life 4 years ago. I am still on chemotherapy. I am grateful to be alive and to have a wonderful family. I am on disability so lessons etc are prohibitive financially. I meditated and prayed for guidance and lo and behold I stumbled onto Pebber Brown picking concepts video on Youtube. That was about 2 months ago, and I have been following Pebber and doing his daily practice routines ever since. I am in his age group and I can relate to many of his tales. I have a deep respect for Pebber and have personally felt muscles and tissue working in areas of my left hand that have been dormant for 30 years. Anyone with the full use of their 8 fingers and 2 thumbs and want to learn to master the guitar from Mr. Brown, have no reason to skimp on his exercises. I suppose this lengthy description is boring to some, but heh, that's life. Peace. Latest activities Tags |
