I think I had a moment of discovery this morning. If I use Pos 1, the 6th tone will be on the d string. So in my mind if I'm playing position 1 i can always figure out my relative minor by my index finger on the d string and then my relative major would be the low e string where my middle finger is. Hopefully the gurus here can confirm or correct me if I'm wrong.

So if i were to move the 1st position of Gmaj 2 frets up the neck I would be playing A maj? If this is so then I could move that 1st position anywhere on the neck and be playing the equivalent scale? And if this is true I would only need to learn 14 positions and be able to play in any scale?

You'll start out with right hand picking exercises. You will also get some left hand exercises. There will be a lot of them. They will get boring really quickly but its really important to stick with it. Trust me. I slacked off early with them now i'm paying for it now that the fun stuff has begun. . Everyone wants to start by learning songs and solos. If you get the basics down first the rest will be easier.

But like the D maj scale, in the caged system the first shape (D shape) appears at the second and third fret and therefore you wouldn't use any of the open strings.

Heres another for review. This one I did 2 beats per note at 60 bpm. The first half is a little sketchy but I thing I'm really close on the 2nd half. At least my critic Harley wasn't complaining. I'll be honest, I've never played with a metronome until posting these videos.

Good advice Ray. I just noticed that by playing with my thumb in the middle of the neck makes it easier to keep my pinky curved when playing the low E string and i don't mute the other strings as bad as I used to.

I do notice that my thumb tries to migrate up the neck. I have to constantly remind myself to move it down.

This one is at 60 bpm and I turned down the metronome to 1 beat per measure instead of 4. Let me know if this is better.

I've recently started working on the Major scale worksheets. After completing most of the sheets, curiosity got the better of me. I watched some of Pebber's theory videos and afterwards wrote out the scales further, continuing the major scale formula. Once I moved my scale to the 6th tone of the scale I realized that was the formula for the minor scale. My question is would the instructors be opposed to working the major and minor scales (since they use the identical notes) on one worksheet instead of writing them out separately? I personally think it would be easier to reference them both on one sheet.
